Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Pet Chef?
Pet Chef is a family owned and run company that specializes in crafting complete and balanced raw pet food for your little ones, sourced from the same butcheries and markets you buy your food from. Everything we use is 100% natural, locally sourced, and the highest quality possible - bel 3arabe: mafi jalamee2.
  • Why switch to Raw Feeding?
Our pets were born to eat meat. They were not born to eat rice, wheat, oats, potatoes, or all those chemicals listed on that bag of processed kibble we've been conditioned into buying them. Sure, they CAN eat these things, but it's the same as saying a child can eat [insert brand of junk food here] everyday. They can, they just really shouldn't. And that's where raw comes in. Raw feeding, when done right, is a far superior and more species appropriate diet for your little one.
  • So why don't vets recommend raw feeding?
This a slightly complex question and can be attributed to 3 main reasons: 1. Raw feeding is a relatively new diet and has not gone through enough testing. Vets are scientists at heart. We love research that has been confirmed and peer reviewed. We don't appreciate trends. And the majority of research available today is performed by the multi-billion (soon to be trillion) dollar dry food industry. 2. Vets don't trust most people to properly balance their pet's meals. We know dry food isn't really the best thing to be feeding pets. But we also know that balancing your pet's meals to include all the necessary vitamins and minerals is hard. And a balanced, processed commercial diet will always be better than an unbalanced natural one. 3. Salmonella (and other food-borne pathogens) Raw meat comes with the risk of contaminants, such as: bacteria, viruses, and toxins. Vets only want what's best for your pet and we worry that not everyone knows how to prevent these risks.
  • With all these problems, why should we buy raw food from Pet Chef?
That is where we at Pet Chef come in. Founded and led by a veterinarian, we've found solutions to all of those issues, and we leave nothing up to chance. We've done our homework and we trust the findings: raw simply is better. We craft complete and balanced recipes that have the added bonus of being super tasty. It's not just muscle meat, it's organs, bones, some veggies, and essential oils. Our recipes have been tested and match up to AAFCO, FEDIAF, and NRC standards. It's also a weight off your shoulders that we send you exact meal portions for your pets - designed exactly around their daily caloric needs. Every one of our batches has samples sent out for testing. This is part of the reason why we need 3-4 business days before we can send out your orders. If we're not 100% certain that it's clean enough to be eaten raw by a human, we'll call you and explain the delay as we craft up a new batch for your baby.
